Bill Organizers
There are many different ways to organize your bills and other important pieces of mail. Rather than piling everything up on your desk, consider investing in a bill organizer. There are many different types to meet various needs. You can use an online organizer or one that actually sits on your desk. It just depends on whether you prefer receiving your statements online or in the mail. For online bill payers there are spreadsheets and even software programs to help you keep track of everything.
While you've probably heard of financial software programs like Quicken and Microsoft Money, these aren't the only two options out there. With a little surfing you can come across online organizing programs as well as software programs that can be installed on your computer. When managing your bills online it helps to schedule alerts that remind you via email or pop-up when it is time to pay a certain bill so you'll never be late. Many financial organization software programs have this feature and many more.
If you want to organize your paper bills using an organizer that can fit on your desk, consider an expandable binder with multiple pockets that can be closed with an elastic fit around the front button or snapped closed depending on what type you choose. These binders are space efficient yet expand to fit all your bills when you open them. You can put tabs in each divider pocket that tells you the date or even the type of bill. Whether you organize your bills chronologically or by what they are is up to you. Most people find a chronological approach most useful.
There are even bill organizer pockets with multiple slots made from wood and other materials that hang on the wall. If you have limited desk space but need a spot to file your incoming and outgoing mail these wall hanging organizers are ideal. Not all of them are made of wood, but some are. You can even go online for ideas and instructions for making your own if you are the crafty type. There are many ways to organize bills, what is important is that your filing system matches your preferences and personality because you want something you'll actually use.
